NHL Veteran Joonas Donskoi has retired after 7 NHL seasons due to lingering concussion issues.

Donskoi Retires From The NHL

NHLer Joonas Donskoi is hanging up his skates after 7 seasons in the league, citing issues following multiple sustained concussions, the player announced on Instagram.

Donskoi last played in 2021-22 for the Seattle Kraken. Donskoi suffered a concussion in Seattle's preseason last year in a game against Vancouver, colliding with teammate Kole Lind. The hit was Donskoi's 7th concussion of his career, keeping him on LTIR throughout the entire 2022-23 season.

Donskoi joined the Kraken from the Colorado Avalanche in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. Donskoi, a 4th Round Pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2010 NHL Draft, signed with the San Jose Sharks in 2015 after a successful season in the Finnish league for Kärpät.

Donskoi has a career 474 NHL Games, with 80 Goals, 128 Assists and 208 Points.
