Devils sign Dmitri Kulikov

The New Jersey Devils announced today that they've signed defenceman Dmitri Kulikov to a one-year contract worth 1.15 million dollars.

"Kulikov is an experienced, physical left-shot defenseman who skates well. His ability to play both the right and left side brings value to our defense corps." said Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald.

Kulikov, 30, was drafted in the first round, 14th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2009 NHL entry draft. In 677 regular season games, he has 170 points (35 G, 135 A), 427 penalty minutes, and is a -58. In 24 career playoff games, Kulikov's recorded 7 points (1 G, 6 A), 18 penalty minutes, and is a -2.

Internationally, Kulikov has represented Russia on multiple occasions, most recently at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey where in four games he had no points, no penalty minutes, and was a +/-0 as Russia finished fourth following a loss to Canada in the semi-final.

At the International level, Kulikov has won some hardware. He won a gold medal the 2007 IIHF U18 World Championship, a silver medal at the 2008 IIHF U18 World Championship, a bronze medal at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. As well as silver medals at the 2010 and 2015 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championships.
