Jonathan Huberdeau's first season in Calgary didn't go the way he wanted it. After the largest drop in points in decades, the forward is about to start his eight-year contract, valued at $10.5M AAV.
The expectations are high, given the value of the contract. Fans and management have a lot of hope for him, and the pressure on Huberdeau is off the charts.
Now that Darryl Sutter is gone, he'll need to perform well to prove what he's capable of.
After this tough season, he revealed an important strategy to bounce back next year.
Huberdeau Seeks Help
Just like everyone else, hockey players can struggle with mental health. Hockey players, including Huberdeau, may need to reach out for help if they don't feel good.
That's what Huberdeau did. He admitted to seeing a psychologist, and we couldn't be happier for him.
This will help him achieve his goals and remain in the right mindset to pursue his career.
Here's what he revealed:
«I think, get back to the basics. That's what I wanted to do. I talked to a psychologist and got back to where I'm confident and have the right mindset. I think I got away from that. Just trust yourself and have confidence. That's what I learned a lot this summer.
Obviously, I'd never had that type of season. It was going well the past four years before that year that just happened. Just reset everything and come back to the basics. Small victories in your life that are going to give you that confidence back. This summer, that's what I did.»
We hope that this will help him succeed next year!
Do you think Huberdeau will reach the 100-point mark in the upcoming season?
