San Jose Sharks general manager Doug Wilson announced Saturday that the team has re-signed forward Kevin Labanc to a four-year contract worth $18.9 million ($4.725 million AAV).

Doug Wilson said in a statement, "Kevin brings a rare level of offensive skill and creativity to our line-up and has established himself as a top-six forward in our league." "His Game 7 playoff performance last season is one of the most iconic moments in Sharks history and is a perfect example of the impact he can have on a hockey game. Kevin has shown a consistent ability to perform at a high level in both the regular season and the playoffs and he will be a big part of our club in the coming years."

Sharks head coach Bob Boughner added, "Banker adds some important ingredients to our lineup, especially with how we want to play going forward." "His creativity makes him a player that other teams have to be aware of and we're excited to see that on display at both five-on-five and on the power play."

Labanc, 24, was drafted in the sixth round, 171st overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2014 NHL entry draft. In 284 regular season games, he's put up 149 points (50 G, 99 A), 129 penalty minutes, and is a -31. In 30 career playoff games, Labanc has 14 points (5 G, 9 A), 16 penalty minutes, and is a -8.

Prior to joining the Sharks, Labanc spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts. In 198 career OHL games, he put up 269 points (81 G, 188 A), 155 penalty minutes, and was a +76. He sits fourth all time in Colts franchise history for career points (269). During the 2015-16 season, he set franchise records for most assists in a single season (88), most points in a single season (127), and highest plus/minus in a single season (+60). For his efforts, he was named OHL overage player of the year.

Internationally, Labanc has represented the USA on a couple occasions, most recently at the 2013 IIHF World U18 Hockey Championships. He had 1 point (1 G), 0 penalty minutes, and was a +/-0 in 7 games as the USA won silver.
