Elias Lindholm is one of the top forwards on the trade market and we now know what it would cost to pry him away from Calgary.

Calgary's Troubling Position

The Calgary Flames are entering a period of uncertainty. They are stuck with aging players on long-term contracts like Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri and younger players wanting out of Calgary.

We saw Johnny Gaudreau leave for nothing and Matthew Tkachuk fetch a massive haul but Calgary missed them last season as they failed to make the playoffs.

The man centering their 2021-22 top line, Elias Lindholm, may be the next player to leave.

Calgary's Massive Ask

Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now found some insider information on what it would cost the Bruins to acquire Lindholm.

«If the Bruins want Lindholm, likely DeBrusk. They don't want any picks, and the Bruins have none. They want a scoring winger that can make up for Toffoli being traded. There's probably more that would be in that trade, but DeBrusk would be the target, I think.»

Jake DeBrusk is quite a tall ask. He is coming off of a 27-goal 50-point year with the Bruins in 64 games (35-goal/64-point pace) and is looking to build off of it. Lindholm on the other hand scored 64 points in 80 games and only had 22 goals.

On top of what Murphy mentioned, it would likely cost the Bruins a little extra like a top prospect or pick to get Lindholm on their team. In the end, it looks like Calgary is eying a retool, not a rebuild.
