Avery Destroys the Leafs.

Sean Avery has never been shy to speak his mind, and he did it again. His latest victim? The Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brad Treliving, the Leafs' new GM, made some bold acquisitions this summer, trying to add some aggressiveness to his lineup.

Avery believes it's simply not enough, stating that even he, at 43 years old, could make the roster.

Avery's Comments

Treliving added some muscle to his team with Ryan Reaves, probably the best enforcer in the NHL. Avery threw a jab at him, saying he'd be much more effective than him.

"I could make the Leafs. I'm probably in the best shape of my life... I would give that dressing room a run for their money. Could I get my timing in 5 weeks to be ready for training camp? No, but if they knew that I was on the team and it was like 'ok, he needs 8 weeks,' then I would be ready, and I would be much more effective than Ryan Reaves."

Avery may be in the best shape of his life, but it's not enough for today's NHL. It's a lot faster and bigger than when he was in it.

It's doubtful that he'd make a comeback, but he could join some lower leagues if he wants to get back into the competition.
