Stars extend Jim Nill for 2 Seasons

The Dallas Stars have announced that General Manager Jim Nill has agreed to a two-year extension, taking the reigning Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award winner's contract to the 2025-26 Seaaon.

Nill led the Dallas Stars to a 47-21-14 record in the 2022-23 season, good for a 108 Point total, 1 point behind Central Divison leaders Colorado, and 3 points back of Western Conference leaders and eventual Stanley Cup Champions Vegas.

Jim Nill has been the General Manager of the Dallas Stars since the 2013-14 Season. Dallas made it to the Western Conference before falling in 6 Games to the Stanley Cup winning Golden Knights.

Nill's successful management in Dallas

Many of the top contributors for Dallas, including Jason Robertson, Miro Heiskanen, Jake Oettinger, Roope Hintz & Wyatt Johnston were draft picks taken under Nill's leadership. Other key pieces drafted under his tenure, with the first three all taken in the 2017 NHL Draft. On top of being one of the most promising teams in Hockey, the Stars also boast one of the best young groups in the NHL, with Johnston and Ty Dellandrea on the roster, with Thomas Harley expected to join them, along with promising prospects in Logan Stankoven, Mavrik Bourque & Lian Bischel. Nill has managed to build a dominant contending team with many potential key pieces still making noise in the system.

Before Dallas, Nill spent nearly 2 decades with the Detroit Red Wings, spending a majority of that time as the team's Assistant Manager behind Hall of Famer Ken Holland.
