Sweden has mysteriously removed three first-round draft picks from their World Junior Summer Showcase Roster.

First Rounders Removed From Roster

Today Sweden announced some roster moves they have made that have left fans quite confused.

They decided to remove the 15th, 16th, and 19th overall picks in the 2022 draft in favor of other players selected lower.

They decided to bring in Zeb Forsfjäll (selected 180th by Seattle in 2023), Felix Unger-Sorum (selected 60th by Carolina in 2023), and Hannes Hellberg (undrafted) in favor of the three offensive dynamos.

Why Did Sweden Do This?

While there is no official reason known yet, the common speculation is that they decided to remove the three first-rounders from their summer showcase roster because they know that they will make the championship roster and they want to give younger players who are outside shots more of a chance to make the team.

On top of this, the three first-rounders are all looking to make an impact with their respective SHL teams so they may want to spend their summers with the men's team.
