Blockbuster Trade Proposal Would Give the Maple Leafs a Franchise Goalie.

Possible Swap for a True #1 Goalie

There've been some interesting William Nylander trade proposals, and some not-so-great ones (looking at you, Howard Berger).

But one fairly intriguing one has been put forward by nhlclutchpoints on Instagram, one that would send Nylander, Matt Murray and a first round pick to the Nashville Predators for Juuse Saros.

Given how Matt Murray is a likely candidate for either a buyout or a trade, and with Nylander and the Leafs still very far apart in contract negotiations, it's certainly a tempting one to consider.

Saros is one of the league's best netminders, and one of its busiest, too - he's played 131 regular season games over the past two seasons combined. It just depends if Brad Treliving and co are ok with parting with that many assets to finally land a true long-term #1 goalie.

In any case, here's a highlight clip of Saros stopping Nylander on a breakaway.
