Paul Bissonnette Rips Apart Lou Lamoriello

Paul Bissonnette's time in the NHL was rather short but as an enforcer, Bissonnette made a name for himself as one of the toughest in the NHL. Since his retirement, he has gone on to host the most successful hockey podcast and became a panelist on TNT.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Spittin Chiclets, Bissonnette did not hold back on Lou Lamoriello.

So what moves would cause Bissonnette to say this about Lou? It has been his most recent moves. That includes trading for Bo Horvat, and signing their "core" to long-term extensions.

In 2025-26, three years from now, the Islanders have over $60 million in contract dollars locked up. in 2027-28, five years from now, the Islanders have $44.3 million locked up. These extensions include players like Scott Mayfield and Pierre Engvall. While it is becoming more popular for GMs to extend depth pieces long-term, Lamoriello has taken it to the extreme.

The Islanders barely squeaked into the playoffs with their current core last year and are not even a guarantee to finish in the top 5 in their division. This is disastrous work from Lamoriello who may be fired for his actions in the near future.
