This past weekend, Jets forward Patrik Laine and Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov held their annual charity golf tournament to raise money for the Tampere Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. The pair managed to raise nearly 70,000 Euros (close to $109,000 Canadian).

To help raise the money, they auctioned off a pair of Laine's game worn skates, a stick signed by Barkov, a stick signed by Auston Matthews, and an opportunity to play golf or tennis with Laine.

Laine, 22, was drafted in the first round, second overall in the 2016 NHL entry draft by the Winnipeg Jets. In 305 career games, he's put up 247 points (138 G, 109 A), 114 penalty minutes and is a -1.

Barkov, 25, was drafted in the first round, second overall in the 2013 NHL entry draft by the Florida Panthers. In 479 career games, the Panthers captain has 407 points (155 G, 252 A), 84 penalty minutes, and is a +32. Barkov won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy as the most sportsmanlike player during the 2018-19 season, where he only had 8 penalty minutes.

Laine and Barkov have played together for Finland at the 2016 IIHF World Hockey Championships, as well as the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Good on both Laine and Barkov for spending their weekend raising money for a good cause. Hockey fans admire players who do stuff like this, and we hope they continue their charity golf tournament in the future to help people at the Tampere Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities.
