With the roster Chris Drury assembled for the 2022-23 New York Rangers, only one person can really be blamed for their disappointing first round playoff exit.

That would be head coach Gerrard Gallant. If he gets fired again, it may be indicative of something deeper going on, because he has bounced around the league for a while now. Since 2014, he has coached 3 different teams. He's had regular season and playoff success, but he follows it up by not living up to expectations, and gets fired.
For contrast, the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jon Cooper, has been there since 2013. He's had his ups and downs and even had management change, but his overall consistency has allowed him to keep his position. And 2 Stanley Cups, of course. But even that took him 7 years.

GM Has Had Enough

A coaching change could be in order according to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff.

Apparently the cause of this rumor is an animated argument Chris Drury and Gerrard Gallant had after Game 4.
After going through David Quinn for 2 years during their retool, the Rangers might be going through another coach for 2 years. If they want to win the Stanley Cup, they can't keep replacing coaches. Joel Quenneville might be the next option if the NHL lets him.
