Major Update in a Trade Between the Lightning and the Blackhawks
The Brandon Hagel trade shocked everybody. Sending two firsts over for a middle-six winger seemed crazy. The jury has changed its mind, however.
Trade Completed
Like almost any trade involving a first round pick, there were conditions.
Of course, however, the Lightning were playoff bound both seasons, but they were eliminated in the first round this year.
Thus, the 20th overall pick will be sent to the Blackhawks in the Brandon Hagel trade.

If the Florida Panthers win tonight, this pick will actually go up to 19th overall.
In such a stacked draft, this is a great deal for the Blackhawks! We will have to wait and see who they take with this valuable slot.
If the Lightning continue to falter, the Hawks could get an even higher slot in 2024, as they equally own the Lightning's first there!
