Patrik Berglund's playing days might be over, but that doesn't mean he can't stir up some controversy. The retired center went on the Cam & Strick podcast to reveal some of the biggest secrets from his playing days.

Berglund Never Wanted to Play for Buffalo

During his appearance on the Cam & Strick podcast, Patrik Berglund talked about his experience with being traded, and how he was moved against his wishes. The NHL veteran revealed that he didn't learn about being traded until he woke up one morning, and then shared an interesting quote regarding the team he was traded to, the Buffalo Sabers.
The first team I would never want to go to. I'd rather quit playing hockey. - Patrik Berlund
This is certainly a shocking revelation for someone who played in 23 games with a team to say. If you remember correctly, Berglund was included in the package that went to Buffalo in exchange for Ryan O'Reilly.
Clearly, Berglund had other intentions than playing in Buffalo, and he left the NHL after his brief stint in Buffalo. The veteran opted to have his contract terminated, and walked away from $12.5 million just to avoid playing in Buffalo any longer.
This isn't a good look for the Sabres organization, and it makes you wonder what they've done to deserve this reputation.
