The Maple Leafs have had a genuine goalie disaster lately, needing junior and university callups to fill roster holes.

This was due to the NHL blocking roster moves to bring up a goalie from the AHL, and with their cap being so tight, moves were nearly impossible.

Luckily, Bettman has changed his mind, just hours before puck drop.

New Rule Helps Out Maple Leafs

A new rule will allow teams to carry a 3rd goalie in the playoffs as an EBUG, rather than a normal arena EBUG. This means that the Leafs were able to call up Erik Kallgren from the Marlies with no penalty.

This is great news for the Leafs, who do have injury issues in net. Hopefully their trip will be able to get them deep into the playoffs.
