The verdict is in on Matt Dumba's hit on Joe Pavelski
The Minnesota Wild managed to squeak out a 3-2 overtime win over the Dallas Stars in game one of their NHL playoff series, but the talk surrounding the game was all about the Wild's Matt Dumba and the Stars' Joe Pavelski. Many wondered whether the NHL's Department of Player Safety might be calling on Dumba for a hearing that would lead to a suspension following the hit. According to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, that's not happening.
"NHL Player Safety will NOT have a hearing for defenseman Matt Dumba after his hit took center Joe Pavelski out of Game 1 last night," said Wyshynski.
"Source tells me it was considered 'close to being late, but within allowable window.' Dumba was given a roughing minor."
No word on whether Pavelski will be playing in game two.
