For the second consecutive day, the Vancouver Canucks have been active on waivers by placing another defenceman on the wire.

The Canucks announced on their Twitter account that they've placed Christian Wolanin on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League.

The Quebec City native is in his first year with the Vancouver Canucks organization and has spent the majority of the season in the AHL with Abbotsford. In 49 games with Abbotsford, Wolanin has 55 points (six goals, 49 assists) and in 16 games with the big club in Vancouver, he had three assists.

If Wolanin clears waivers tomorrow afternoon, he'll join Abbotsford for the Calder Cup Playoffs and it would be a massive boost to the team, given his big contribution to the blueline in the AHL this season.

In addition to Wolanin, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed that four more players were placed on the waiver wire to help their teams in the push for the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Those players are: Nic Petan (Minnesota), Mark Jankowski, Michael McCarron and Kiefer Sherwood (Nashville). All four will be assigned to their respective AHL clubs at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, if no other NHL team places a waiver claim.
