With the playoffs days away the Colorado Avalanche were dealt a serious blow to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions. The Avalanche along with multiple other sources have confirmed that captain Gabriel Landeskog will be participate due to a knee injury.

The 30-year-old native from Stockholm, Sweden underwent off season knee surgery after the 2022 season where the he helped lead the team to a Stanley Cup victory. In 27 games during their run he contributed 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points in 20 games played.

For his career, Landeskog, the 2012 Calder Memorial Trophy Winner has 248 goals, 323 assists for a total of 571 points in 738 games.

Landeskog's absence has been noticeable for the Avalanche as they have regressed sitting second in the Central Division and fourth in the Western Conference. In my opinion with all the injuries the Avalanche have had to deal with it's a wonder that they are sitting as high as well as they are, but without your captain, it may be an early exit and a tee time for the team may be in their almost immediate future.
