University of Minnesota player signs first NHL contract hours after his College career ends

The University of Minnesota 's hockey team lost a heartbreaking game in overtime yesterday to lose the National Championship game. This marked the second consecutive year The team has come up short in their bed for a National Title. With the end of their season, this also prompted three players to become eligible to sign NHL contracts.

As of today Logan Cooley, Brock Faber and Matthew Knies are all eligible to sign NHL deals with the team's that drafted them.

Today, Faber made the decision to ink his 3-year entry level deal with the Minnesota Wild. The deal begins this season and could see Faber play games as early as this week with the Wild.

We've signed defenseman Brock Faber to a three-year, entry level contract.

Faber was selected 45th overall in 2020 by the LA Kings and was later traded to Minnesota as part of the Kevin Fiala trade. The Young defenseman is expected to be a key part of the Minnesota Wild future.
