At this morning's Colorado Avalanche practice, head coach Jared Bednar confirmed the worst case scenario for defenceman Cale Makar - he will be out indefinitely with a lower body injury.

For Makar personally, this is another challenge in a season filled with frustration. Makar has only played 60 games this season, battle various injuries several times throughout the year, including several concussions suffered in a brief period of time. Almost thankfully, this injury isn't a head trauma, but that doesn't make the prognosis of indefinite recovery time any less daunting.

It's a tough blow the to Avalanche if Makar is going to miss a significant amount of games in the playoffs. Colorado is likely storing enough to win multiple rounds without him, but any deep run into the playoffs would dearly miss Cale Makar.

Coming off his Norris trophy campaign last season, Makar kept up his ridiculous offensive pace with 17 goals and 66 points in 60 games played this year. He'll be a part of the Avalanche core for years to come, locked up to a $9M contract through the 2027 season.
