The National Hockey League's top team, the Boston Bruins, has been dominant since the beginning of the season. With the addition of Tyler Bertuzzi at the trade deadline, they solidified their roster even further.

However, the acquisition came at a cost. To make room for Bertuzzi, they Bruins placed Taylor Hall on long-term injured reserve, which has now led to a problem. Although Hall is reportedly ready to return, the Bruins lack the necessary cap space to activate him.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Hall believes that he is ready to play. Unfortunately, the Bruins' cap constraints prevent them from doing so.

Hall has had an impressive season, having scored 16 goals and contributed 20 assists in 58 games for the Bruins, for a total of 36 points.

This is yet another example of how the salary cap plays a negative role to the everyday NHL. A team being unable to activate a healthy player is clearly circumvention of the cap, but it's likely not the last time something like this occurs.
