Cutter Gauthier, a prospect for the Philadelphia Flyers, has recently announced his decision to return to Boston College for his sophomore season, despite being drafted fifth overall in 2022.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet knows that this move was not surprising and is likely the best decision for Gauthier's development.

In his first season, Gauthier led the Eagles in scoring with 16 goals and 37 points in 31 games, earning him a Hockey East Third Team All-Star selection.

At 6'2" and weighing 194 pounds, Gauthier already possesses a solid frame for the NHL. Scouts describe him as a high-paced player with a wide range of offensive tools who can disrupt cycles and win puck battles.

Although his puck work is impressive, his work away from the puck is also highly regarded. Gauthier's return to college will likely benefit his development, and when the Flyers are ready to compete for a playoff spot, he will undoubtedly be a valuable asset.
