Following Thursday night's 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, Allan Walsh, the agent for Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau, sent out a tweet about the team's poor play of late and that the players are having the joy sucked out of them.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Also, negativity sucks the joy right out of players. cc: @NHLFlames" Walsh said.

On Friday morning, Flames head coach Darryl Sutter was asked to comment on the tweet from Walsh and didn't appear to know who he was until a reporter mentioned that he was Huberdeau's agent.

"So what would his relationship be to you or to the the players? Sutter asked.

When asked about if he would consider if Walsh's tweet is irrelevant, Sutter added, "That would be the assumption. Social media and what anybody says doesn't affect locker room ever. Ever. When you've got a tight group, you keep it tight."

Walsh's client, Jonathan Huberdeau, is certainly not living up to expectations after being dealt to the Flames last summer and signing an eight-year extension worth $10.5 million that kicks in next season. His new contract will also include a full no-movement clause.

So far this season, Huberdeau has 36 points (ten goals, 26 assists) in 52 games, which is a far cry from the 115 points he put up last year, which saw him finish second to Connor McDavid.

Huberdeau's inconsistent play this season is certainly part of why Calgary is where they are, as they currently sit on the outside of the playoff picture in the Western Conference with 61 points through 55 games and a record of 4-4-2 in their last ten. The Saint-Jerome (Quebec) native can be better, as with several others on Calgary's roster, and he'll look to do so as the team heads down the stretch with just under eight weeks until the end of the regular season.

The Flames will look to bounce back on Saturday night as they host the New York Rangers at the Saddledome. Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. ET on CBC and Sportsnet.
