There has been a lot of uncertainty regarding Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews in the last couple of weeks as we slowly approach the NHL's trade deadline.

The 34-year-old hasn't played since before the All-Star break and hasn't practiced with the team in over a week now due to an illness. It's unclear at this point if this illness is related to chronic immune response syndrome, which he was diagnosed with in late-2020.

According to Avalanche reporter Adrian Dater, it is highly unlikely that Jonathan Toews is traded before the deadline on Friday, March 3rd.

"Talked with multiple sources today and feel confident in saying: highly unlikely Jonathan Toews will be traded this season." Dater said.

While his playing status for the remainder of the season isn't known, it would be interesting to see if Toews does end up getting traded and placed on LTIR by the acquiring team to allow them to make additional moves.

The Winnipeg native has appeared in 46 games this season for the Blackhawks, recording 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists), 37 penalty minutes, is a minus-24, while averaging 17:55 TOI.
