The Toronto Maple Leafs have several pressing questions to answer this summer. One such question is what to do with forward Michael Bunting.

Bunting is an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the way he is playing, he could price himself out of Toronto's budget. According to CapFriendly, Toronto has ~$70 million allocated after this season with just 11 players on their active roster signed.

Given that he is 27 years old, Bunting can't take discount deals forever - like the one he signed with Toronto ($950k). Bunting has 29 points in 40 games for the Leafs this season, while posting great underlying numbers.

Jeff Marek of Sportsnet reports that the Leafs have yet to initiate talks with Bunting's camp, which could have a variety of explanations. After all, there are a lot of balls in the air for Toronto this summer, with much larger questions looming than one forward.

GM Kyle Dubas is in the final year of his contract, which will likely be the first question solved, as the club likely wants the GM of the future assigning contracts. The trade speculation around the Leafs is always abuzz, but something tells me this summer will be a hot one in Toronto.
