The NHL's trade deadline for the 2022-23 season is less than two months away and one of the names that has been in the rumour mill over the last little while is Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat.

Horvat is a pending unrestricted free agent and has reportedly turned down a contract offer from the Canucks in December, which will lead the two sides to explore trade options in the weeks to come.

During the '32 Thoughts' segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned that one team that could get into the Horvat sweepstakes is Vancouver's geographical rival, the Seattle Kraken.

"Obviously there's going to be a ton of interest one team, guys, I've wondered about potentially getting into this is the Seattle Kraken." Friedman said.

It's unclear what it would cost the Kraken to acquire the 2013 ninth overall pick, but general manager Ron Francis has three second-round picks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, as well as two third-round picks in 2024. Along with draft picks, the Canucks will likely seek a prospect in return too.

Horvat, 27, is having a very strong season thus far. In 38 games, the London (Ontario) native has 43 points (28 goals, 15 assists), eight penalty minutes and is a plus-two.
