Overnight, the International Ice Hockey Federation announced that Team Germany captain Yannick Proske will miss the remainder of the tournament after suffering an injury.

This year, the IIHF is allowing participating nations to make two injury substitutes, if necessary. Because of this, most teams are carrying 25-man rosters, but only registering 23.

Sebastian Cimmerman, who plays with Red Bull Munich in the DEL, has been activated to Germany's roster as a replacement for Proske.

Germany will face their rivals, Austria, on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. local. Both teams are winless and this game has a ton of significance. Whoever wins today will more than likely claim the fourth and final quarter-final spot in Group A.
