The National Hockey League announced on Friday that they've fined Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment has been fined $2,000 for embellishment, which is his second citation of the season.

His first citation, which was a warning from the NHL, occurred during a game between Dallas and the Colorado Avalanche on November 26th. During the second period, Marchment went in on a scoring chance and after missing a pass to his teammate, he ran into Avs defenceman Josh Manson, falling to the ice in the process. Manson was given a two-minute minor for interference on the play. (Marchment's embellishment occurs at the 14 second mark in the video below).

His second citation, which earned him a $2,000 fine, happened on December 8th against the Ottawa Senators. Early in the third period, Marchment went to cut in front of Derick Brassard after the puck was dropped following a faceoff, when he was hooked by the Senators forward and then fell to the ice. Brassard was given a two-minute minor for hooking on the play.

If Marchment gets issued another citation, it will cost him $3,000, a fourth would be $4,000.. If he happens to get five or more citations from the NHL, it'll not only cost him $5,000 each additional time, it'll also cause his head coach to be fined.

The $2,000 that Marchment was fined on Friday will go directly into the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
