The Edmonton Oilers had a controversial goal disallowed on Thursday night that ended up being a difference-making play all said and done. Connor McDavid was flagged for offsides after the play was reviewed, which resulted in Leon Draisaitl's goal being called off.

Taking these examples into account, plus the bevy of other inconsistencies, some added clarity from the NHL would be beneficial. The Oilers' captain spoke on that very subject after the game, calling on the NHL to get it together.

The criticisms of the NHL's ambiguous rulings on good goals vs. disallowed goals has generally been met with deaf ears and inaction. Perhaps Connor McDavid's plea will get the message through, although it is unlikely.
