The last week has been filled with rumours and speculation about Brock Boeser's future with the Vancouver Canucks.

Trade rumours about the 25-year-old have dated back to last season, but after he was supposed to be a healthy scratch last Saturday, those rumours emerged again, especially after Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman mentioned that Boeser's agent was granted permission to speak with other teams about a move.

Earlier this week, Boeser's agent said that more than half-a-dozen teams have expressed interest in acquiring his client, who's under contract for the next two seasons after this one at a cap hit of $6.65 million and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2025.

During Friday's edition of the '32 Thoughts podcast', Elliotte Friedman mentioned that he believes one team that has interest in Brock Boeser is the Washington Capitals.

Friedman also wondered if a swap of Boeser and Capitals forward Anthony Mantha could work. Mantha has one year left on his contract after the 2022-23 season with a cap hit of $5.7 million and if the Canucks were to acquire him in a trade for Brock Boeser, it would give them an additional $950,000 to work with.

The Capitals have injuries to several key players including Tom Wilson, Nicklas Backstrom, Connor Brown and Carl Hagelin, so adding Boeser would give them some help in the scoring department as they try to remain in the playoff picture in the Metropolitan Division.
