The Columbus Blue Jackets announced a trio of injury updates on Friday. As many already knew, defencemen Jake Bean and Zach Werenski are out with shoulder injuries. Both underwent surgery recently, with Bean expected to miss four-to-six months, while Werenski will be out for six months.

After suffering a concussion due to being high-sticked in a game on November 4th against the Colorado Avalanche, the Blue Jackets have issued an update on forward Jakub Voracek.

Voracek is out indefinitely and due to the amount of head injuries he's suffered in his career, doctors have advised him to take some time off.

"Jake has had a number of head injuries during his career, and after the most recent was advised by doctors to take some time off to see if his ongoing symptoms subside to the point that will allow him to come back and play," said Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen. "We don't expect a resolution in the near future and will give Jake as much time as he needs as his long-term health is the most important factor here."

The 33-year-old has one more year left on his contract following the 2022-23 season with a cap hit of $8.25 million.

It's great to see that the Blue Jackets are playing it safe with Voracek as his health long-term is much more important than being back in the lineup anytime soon.
