The Winnipeg Jets are set to be without the services of forward Mason Appleton until at least the middle of January.

According to Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun, Appleton will have surgery on Wednesday after suffering an upper-body injury during Sunday's overtime win against the Seattle Kraken. Billeck added that Appleton will be out for at least eight weeks.

Appleton, 26, has appeared in 16 games this season for Winnipeg, recording six points (one goal, five assists), six penalty minutes, is a plus-one and is averaging 16:34 TOI.

The Appleton-less Jets will be back in action on Thursday night when they host the Anaheim Ducks at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. local.
