Even before it was officially announced that the Ottawa Senators were up for sale, there were rumours that Canadian movie star Ryan Reynolds is attempting to buy the team. Reynolds himself addressed those rumours during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Monday night, and said it is absolutely true.

"Yes, that is true," said Reynolds when asked by Fallon whether he was trying to buy the team.
"I am trying to do that," he added.
Reynolds went on to explain that's he putting together a consortium of interested investors.
"It's such a fancy way of saying I need a sugar-mommy or sugar-daddy," added Reynolds.
"And if that doesn't work out, I'll buy a U.S. Senator, which anyone can afford," he joked.
Reynolds noted that while he grew up in Vancouver, he also spent significant time in his childhood in Vanier, a neighbourhood in the Rideau-Vanier Ward of Ottawa.
"Children are eased out of the womb in ice skates in Canada," Reynolds quipped.
In all honesty, this is a PR dream for the NHL. Reynolds isn't just a star, he's a well-liked one who can do wonders for the entire sport. Reynolds and fellow Hollywood star Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham AFC, a team in lowest level of professional football in England. The process of purchasing the team has been chronicled in the documentary "Welcome to Wrexham", which has proven to be very popular.
