The Washington Capitals have found a way to help their injury issue on forward. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Capitals have claimed Nicolas Aube-Kubel off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Aubé-Kubel, 26, was signed by the Maple Leafs to a one-year contract worth $1 million on the opening day of free agency in the summer. He only found his way into six of Toronto's games this season and has been a healthy scratch on and off.

The Slave Lake (Alberta) native spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the Colorado Avalanche after they claimed him off waivers from the Flyers in November 2021. In 67 games with the Avs, Aubé-Kubel had 22 points (11 goals and 11 assists). He went on to appear in 14 games during the playoffs, helping the Avalanche win their third Stanley Cup in franchise history.
