According to a piece by People Magazine, Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is interested in purchasing the recently listed Ottawa Senators hockey club. Reynolds, 46, hails from Vancouver, B.C. and has a net worth of approximately $150 million, per CelebrityNetWorth.com.

According to a recent report, measuring the valuations of the NHL's 32 clubs, the Ottawa Senators could sell for as much as $700 million, which means Reynolds would likely need additional funding if he was truly committed. I imagine he would not have much trouble, as he managed to buy Welsh football club, Wrexham AFC not long ago.
If the NHL is looking for faces to spread the game, Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively are arguably the best place to start. And being in the Canadian capital would surely send a strong message.
According to People's report, Reynolds is 'very' interested in purchasing the Senators. He even replied to a tweet, suggesting the news piqued his interest.
If Reynolds would purchase the Sens, that would be a massive W for the NHL, the Senators, and really the entire world. Not to be dramatic or anything. A lot has to get done between now and the time of any sale, but something tells me this transaction could go down quickly. Sort of a 'strike while the iron is hot' sort of thing.
The passing of Eugene Melnyk cannot go undiscussed here, as he was the sitting owner of the Senators for years. His daughters currently run the club and oversaw the team's dealings for the past few months. Recently, they hired Galatioto Sports Partners to assist with the transaction. While the intention is to sell, they are reportedly interested in retaining a minority stake in the club in honor of their late father.
While relocation does not appear to be on the table, the organization is desperately seeking approval for a new downtown arena, and with new ownership they just might get it.
