I feel like I hear this everyday about every sport, but the NHL is becoming a young man's game; younger each year so it seems. Talent development has never been better, which likely has to do with the rise of younger-aged stars in the NHL.

Nevertheless, the old guard has had to adjust their approach in working with this newer generation, and it often presents itself in funny ways. You can often tell that head coaches and GMs alike are at a loss as to understanding today's athlete, but as long as they get it done one the ice all is good.

Jim Montgomery, head coach of the Boston Bruins, was asked about his approach to handling his younger players, and he likened it to his dating days. It's funnier than it sounds:

Montgomery on communicating with today's young NHL players: "That group, it's what they're used to. They reply to text messages. They don't phone you back. They don't call you back. Kind of like a lot of girls when I was dating."

Kids these days!

The Bruins have the NHL's 7th oldest team, but they have four players aged 22 and ten under 24. So Monty does have a slew of youngsters who apparently aren't returning his calls. Tough break.
