One day after losing forward Lukas Sedlak, who was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers, the Avalanche have picked up another forward.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Colorado Avalanche have claimed Dryden Hunt off waivers from the New York Rangers.

Hunt, 26, had a career year during the 2021-22 campaign, which was his first season with the Rangers. In 76 games, the Cranbrook (British Columbia) native had 17 points (six goals, 11 assists), 52 penalty minutes and was a minus-ten.

Meanwhile, in three games this season before being placed on the waiver wire, Hunt had one goal, two penalty minutes and was a minus-one.

In other waivers related news, the Seattle Kraken have placed veteran defenceman Michal Kempny on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

Kempny, 32, has spent parts of five seasons in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals, the latter of whom he won a Stanley Cup with in 2018.

The Hodonin (Czechia) signed with the Kraken this summer, but didn't make the team out of training camp, was placed on regular waivers (which he cleared) and was assigned to the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the AHL. In two games with the Firebirds, Kempny had one goal.
