The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have made the decision to remove former player Mike Ribeiro's jersey from the rafters.

Ribeiro, who recorded 228 goals and 793 points over his career as an NHLer, was an even more prolific scorer during his time in the QMJHL with the Huskies. In just 138 games with the organization, he put up a ridiculous 108 goals and 296 points, making it an easy decision to hang his No. 9 from the rafters. However, current pending charges of sexual assault against the 42-year-old has resulted in his banner being taken down.

"We do it preventively, we are not judges in this, we are only observers," said Gilles Berube, who serves as the Huskies operational director. "We wanted to be sure not to have to remove it in the middle of the season. It's a preventative measure, so if there's no follow-up to this, we hope to put the banner back up as soon as possible."

Ribeiro is currently facing two counts of sexual assault that are alleged to have taken place last year in Dallas. It isn't the first time he has faced sexual assault accusations, as his former nanny came forward in 2015 with allegations that he had done the same with her back in 2012. That lawsuit has since been settled, and terms were not disclosed.
