2010 sixth overall pick Brett Connolly leaves North America after parts of eleven NHL seasons

After spending parts of eleven seasons in the National Hockey League, 2010 sixth overall pick Brett Connolly is leaving North America.

The 30-year-old has agreed to terms on a one-year contract for the 2022-23 season with HC Lugano, a club in Switzerland's top division, National League.

Connolly, a native of Campbell River (British Columbia), was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning sixth overall in 2010 and went on to appear in 536-career games with the Lightning, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers and the Chicago Blackhawks.

In those 536-career games, Connolly had 195 points (101 goals, 94 assists), 241 penalty minutes and was a plus-nine. He also appeared in 42 games in the playoffs including 24 in 2018 when he hoisted the Stanley Cup with Washington.
