After spending three seasons at the University of Michigan and one season in the Swedish Hockey League with Skelleftea AIK, 23-year-old netminder Strauss Mann landed his first NHL contract, signing a one-year deal with the San Jose Sharks.

Mann will compete in training camp with James Reimer, Kaapo Kahkonen and Aaron Dell for a spot on the Sharks roster, but it's likely that the Greenwich (Connecticut) native starts the season in the American Hockey League with the San Jose Barracuda.

His strong play with Skelleftea AIK earned him a spot on the United States' 2022 Olympic team, where he appeared in three of their four games, earning a win over Canada in the preliminary round.

On Friday, Mann shared an image via Instagram of his new equipment for the 2022-23 season and it might be one of the best set-ups of any goalie in the National Hockey League. The pads, blocker and glove all feature a shark with an open mouth, revealing their teeth, a sign of aggression and hopefully intimidating towards any of Mann's opponents next season.
