With the tournament merely four days away, Team USA Head Coach Nate Leaman has named the leadership group for 2022 World Juniors:

Captain - D Brock Faber
Alternate - F Thomas Bordeleau
Alternate - F Landon Slaggert

Faber, recently traded to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for F Kevin Fiala, just finished his sophomore NCAA season with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. In 59 games for Minnesota, Faber has tallied 26 points. The USNTDP product is playing in his second WJC tournament and represented the US at the Beijing Olympics.

Bordeleau, a San Jose Sharks prospect, recently turned pro after two seasons at the University of Michigan. The 2020 38th overall pick scored five points in his first eight NHL games after scoring 67 points in 61 games for the Wolverines. Bordeleau will be a player to watch over the next year, as he appears to be a top prospect based on both college & professional production rates.

Slaggert spent the last two seasons with Notre Dame, scoring 48 points in 65 games. A third-round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks, Slaggert is playing in his second WJC tournament.

The US is the reigning champion of the WJC tournament, and look to repeat as Gold Medalists. The Americans will play in Group B, along with Team Russia, Team Sweden, Team Slovakia, and Team Switzerland. Team USA kicks off their tournament against Team Germany on Tuesday August 9th.
