One day removed from a video surfacing on the internet of a beer league player kicking another in the face with his skate, and police in the local area have decided to get involved. We now know the game took place in the Scotia Barn sports complex in Burnaby B.C. last Friday. During a heated situation, two players were on the ice with officials attempting to separate them. While one of the two combatants was on his knees, the other player kicked out his skate and clipped him in the face. He went to the ice immediately.

The Adult Safe Hockey League has released a statement saying the offending player was ejected from the game and suspended indefinitely. The player may be permanently banned. Now, Burnaby RCMP have indicated they are involved.

"Investigators are still in the process of speaking with players and witnesses," the detachment said.

Officers confirmed they have video of the incident, and are checking it to determine exactly what led up to the incident.

There always seems to be some debate over whether an on-ice incident during a hockey game warrants police involvement. Given the content, officers wouldn't really be doing their jobs if they didn't at least look into it.
