Over the past few days, we have heard several reports of Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov, some stating that he has safely arrived in USA from Russia, while others claim he is still in has native country and never tried to leave at all.

After days of gaining intel, Michael Russo of The Athletic has learned that Kaprizov did in fact try to leave Russia, but was denied doing so. This comes on the back of reports that he had obtained a fake ID from a former military officer to avoid doing the mandatory Russian service time. This is the same situation which Philadelphia Flyers prospect Ivan Fedotov recently found himself in, and he has since been arrested and sent to a military base.

This situation is a very scary one for a number of Russian hockey players, who could to find themselves in this predicament if they have not yet done their mandatory service. Expect to hear more on several players, Kaprizov included, in the coming days and weeks.
