The Stanley Cup champions have made their first move of the off-season. On Tuesday, the Avalanche announced that they've signed pending unrestricted free agent forward Andrew Cogliano to a one-year contract. Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoff added that Cogliano's contract is worth $1.25 million.

Cogliano, a veteran of sixteen NHL seasons, won the first Stanley Cup of his career just over a week ago. The 35-year-old was acquired by the Avalanche at the trade deadline in March from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

The Toronto native appeared in eighteen regular season games for Colorado following the trade, recording one assist, eight penalty minutes and was a minus-two. Cogliano went on to put up six points (three goals, three assists) in sixteen games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Cogliano had injury issues during the playoffs, including a broken finger he suffered during the Western Conference Final. He underwent surgery on his finger on June 9th. Nine days later, he made his return during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final and recorded two assists in a 7-0 route of Tampa Bay.
