The officials are turning out the be a major part of the story of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final between the Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning. Even before Nazem Kadri's massive overtime goal in game four in which Colorado appeared to have too many men on the ice (Note: it looked as though Tampa Bay did as well), there were debates over calls and non-calls all over social media. Cale Makar of the Avalanche let the referees have it during game 5 over what he felt was a non-call.

Makar, who has been a monster for the Avs in these playoffs, split the Lightning defense for a great chance on the goalie in close. Along the way, he was definitely slashed and would end up missing the net. It's a call that would have been made more often than not in the regular season. It was missed here, and Makar was livid. As he skated back down the ice, Makar turned to the official and shouted "you're a f---ing joke!"

Tampa Bay ended up winning 3-2 to keeo their Stanley Cups hope alive. The Bolts currently trail in the series 3-2 and head home for game 6 Sunday Night. Game 5 could be a huge factor if Tampa Bay can come back to win it all.
