The Tampa Bay Lightning find themselves in an unusual position being down three games to one to the Colorado Avalanche. The past two Stanley Cup Finals were not nearly as difficult for the Lightning, as they won in 6 or fewer games in both. This time around the Lightning, with backs against the wall, are in search of a miracle.

Head Coach Jon Cooper has been in the media a lot this series & not in his usual likable, earnest light. He gained a lot of attention in his candid Game 4 post-game presser. Now it seems he has a new bone to pick:

High-altitude conditions are scientifically proven to hinder athletic performance, so Cooper might have a point. Having said that, this SCF hasn't looked great on Cooper. Between blaming the refs to blaming the altitude, Cooper seems to offer reasons for his team's lack of success other than simply being bested. A weird look for a coach who is usually an insightful speaker overflowing with wisdom.

The Lightning will look to protect their dominion over the Stanley Cup tonight in the high-altitude once more. They have not fared well in the mile-high city, but it's win or go home for the back-to-back champs. Meanwhile, the Cup will be in the house, as the Avalanche are one win away from hockey's greatest triumph. Tune in tonight, 8pm eastern.
