St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington is finally explaining his thought process behind throwing a water bottle at Nazem Kadri of the Colorado Avalanche while Kadri was doing an interview. It happened after game three of their second round playoff series after Binnington was involved in a collision that knocked him out of the game and the rest of the series.

Binnington explained that he was just returning from having his knee checked out by doctors at the arena only to find the game was over. He had a bottle of water with him at the time.

"And right before I walk into the locker room, I see [Kadri] kind of doing the interview there, smiling, laughing. I'm there in a knee-brace, limping down the hallway," said Binnington. "I just felt like it was a God-given opportunity. I don't know, I could just stay silent and go in the room or I could say something, have him look me in the eye and understand what was going on."

Binnington said that's when he decided to throw the water bottle, which he added was empty.

"It is what it is there," said Binnington. "It's hockey, it's a competitive game. That's it."

While many Blues fans blamed Kadri for the collision and Binnington's injury, the video replay shows Blues defenceman Calle Rosen was mainly at fault for pushing Kadri into his netminder. Binnington, a well-known hothead, was not punished for his actions.
