After naming their final roster last week, USA Hockey has chosen their leadership group for the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship.

Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Seth Jones will wear the 'C', while Ottawa Senators forward Austin Watson and Winnipeg Jets defenceman Nate Schmidt were named alternate captains.

Jones, 27, has played at the World Championship twice before. In 2014 he had a strong tournament, putting up eleven points in eight games as the United States finished sixth. A year later, Jones and Team USA won the bronze medal.

This will be Austin Watson's first appearance at the World Championship and first time representing his country since the 2012 World Juniors. As for Nate Schmidt, this will be the first time he's ever played on the international stage.

The United States will open their tournament on Friday at 9:20 a.m. ET against Latvia.
