The Toronto Maple Leafs welcomed a 100% capacity crowd to Scotiabank Arena for the first time since December, but those fans were certainly disappointed with the loss.

After the first period, the score was tied at 1-1, but then the Sabres scored four unanswered goals and held on to win 5-1.

In his post-game press conference, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe didn't mince his words when talking about his team's performance.

"It was terrible from start to finish." He said.

"In terms of how we played with the puck, we were really careless and didn't have much happening," Keefe added. "Offensively, we were abysmal. All four lines."

Keefe didn't stop there either. He went on to share his displeasure with the effort from his top line, including Auston Matthews.

"That's as bad as they've played in quite some time," Keefe said

Toronto was met with boos as they were leaving the ice at the end of the game.

The Maple Leafs and Sabres will meet once again, in ten days, when they head outdoors for the 2022 Heritage Classic in Hamilton (Ontario).
