After what has been a mostly dismal season for the Montreal Canadiens, things have been looking up lately. The team has now won four straight games under new coach Martin St. Louis and players who were looking awful have suddenly started living up to their potential. However, the latest win came at a cost as two players were taken to hospital following separate incidents.

Not even four minutes into the first period of the game against Buffalo, Paul Byron took a big hit along the boards from Mattias Samuelsson. Byron landed awkwardly and seemed somewhat dazed. He went back to the bench but was eventually told to head to the back, which caused him to throw his helmet in frustration.

Late in the second period, forward Josh Anderson was forced to leave the game after taking a shot from Casey Mittelstadt off the face. It appeared to hit him in the side of the head, close to the ear. He would stay down for some time, but eventually left under his own power.

According to an official statement from Montreal, both Byron and Anderson were taken to hospital Wednesday night.

Any chance of making the playoffs disappeared for the Canadiens a while ago. However, one of the reasons the team has had such an awful season is the amount of injuries they've faced. Byron had just started playing in January after undergoing hip surgery in the offseason. Anderson had really found his game since St. Louis came on board, with the line of him, Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield being on fire over the last four games.
